Dillard’s-Southgate Plaza Relishes in Beauty and Glamor During Diva Day   

Everyone knows about Dillards, the department store that provides tons of cool clothes and shoes for the family, makeup and beauty products for fashionistas, and products for the home. At the Dillard’s-Southgate Plaza in the Southgate Mall in Sarasota, Florida, shoppers interested in the world of beauty were treated to a fantastic Diva Day. The event, which was held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 4th, included tons of glamour and beauty tips from make-up experts.

First, here’s a little background on Dillard’s. The department store chain was founded 75 years ago by William Dillard. He created the department store to help customers find the “the finest quality merchandise and sell it at the best price.” The chain strives to continue the founder’s commitment by finding the best merchandise from around the world and bringing it to its customers.


The Diva Day at Dillard’s-Southgate Plaza is just one way the store is helping keep William Dillard’s goal alive. The day brought out the best in terms of make-up and beauty, as well as beauty tips customers could easily integrate into their own lives.

“[W]e did have make-up artists from many different cosmetic lines such as Lancome, Estee Lauder, Christian Dior, and Elizabeth Arden,” said Maureen Hogan from Dillard’s-Southgate Plaza. “We invited our customers to come in and experience great service in our Dillards store. We had fragrance bottle engravers, nail techs, hair artists, and massage therapists.”

To promote the event, Dillard’s called in on some of the big guns: great clients that have served the store’s resident beauty advisor well. “We had brochures that we passed out and we called our best clients from each of the beauty advisor’s clientele database,” said Hogan.

The event went fantastically, said Hogan. “We had a great event,” she said. “We had a particular [monetary] goal to hit and we did it!” She said that the best parts of the event were the responses from the customers. “The best part of the event was all of the happy customers who left for the day,” she said.

If you’re holding your type of high-profile spa day, Hogan advises using online tickets. “The tickets are great, they elevated the event so that it was more professional,” she said. “If you are providing services, it’s nice to have a brochure that highlights all of the activities that are going on.”
