Resolve to keep being awesome in 2015 with these three top tips from the fundraising trenches:
- Plan Well in Advance: Don’t procrastinate…it’s fundraising advice we hear from just about everyone. Laura Goldberg, part of the marketing team for Hurricane’s Grill that organized their Depression Awareness Day fundraiser benefiting The Black Dog Institute, couldn’t agree more: “Don’t leave things to the last minute and make sure all your staff are briefed accordingly.” Laura isn’t the only one making being proactive a priority. Yvonne Canning, who hosted a dual purpose charity evening, encourages all fundraisers to “plan ahead and leave lots of time for companies to reply when asking for prizes or donations.”
- Use Event Tickets: It’s the little things that often make a difference. In addition to tracking attendees, the polished appearance of professionally designed event tickets makes them easier to sell. Sean Corson, organizer of the Hidden Treasures event benefiting the Waterloo Regional Down Syndrome Society, says they’re a big part of his event’s success: “I have been using Canada Ticket Printing for several years now,” he adds. “I love the quality and quickness on every order. To spread the word about her All White Affair benefiting Brown Faces on the Greens, a non-profit enriching children’s lives through golf, organizer LaTonia Brown-Dickerson attributes her success to a varied approach: “We used social media via Facebook, Twitter as well as word of mouth and flyers as marketing tools.”
